RAFT is a fresh and dynamic approach to recovery. The recovery process is unique to every individual. The purpose of our approach is to empower and ignite growth allowing you to thrive.
Each RAFT session lasts for 2 hours, although we do recommend you give yourself 2.5 hours to allow time to shower and change.
The first 60 minutes will be spent 1-1 with Vivian McKinnon, our highly qualified, skilled and experienced Wellness Consultant who will support you to explore and understand your responses to life’s experiences.
One of the main reasons we experience distress is that we focus our attention on emotion and the learnings from our experiences are lost, the beauty of the techniques utilised by Vivian means you can work “content free”. Therefore you don’t have to talk about, remember or even know why you feel the way you do to implement the process of change. This part of the session is carried out by accessing delta brainwaves. Delta brainwaves are slow and are generated in deepest meditation, dreamless sleep and are the source of empathy. Healing and regeneration is stimulated in this state.
After this, you then enter the floatation cabin where your body, mind and soul connect. This delivers your mind into theta state. Theta brainwaves occur most often in twilight sleep but are also dominant in deep meditation, theta acts as our gateway to learning and memory. Our senses are withdrawn from the external world and focused on signals originating from within. In theta state we dream, have vivid imagery, intuition and information beyond our normal conscious awareness. This is where we hold our ‘stuff’ (inner dialogue, ego, beliefs etc), entering this environment straight after the 1-1 session allows you to consolidate the learning from the previous hour to stimulate new neural pathways.
